Ash Tales is a content website operated by Ryan Law. This page explains, in plain language, what information may be collected when you visit the site and how it is used.

What this site collects

Basic server and hosting logs, such as IP address, browser type, pages visited, and request timestamps.
Any information you choose to send directly by email or through a linked third-party platform.
Standard analytics or performance data used to understand site traffic and keep the site running reliably.

How that information is used

To deliver the site and troubleshoot technical issues.
To understand which pages are being used and improve the archive.
To respond to direct messages, reader questions, or business enquiries.

If you sign up for the Ash Tales newsletter, we use your email address to send stories and magazine updates through Resend. You choose to receive these emails by ticking the signup box and confirming your address by email. You can unsubscribe using the link in any newsletter.

We record your email address, the signup page, the wording you agreed to, and the times of your request and confirmation. Resend stores your mailing-list subscription; Netlify stores the confirmation and consent records. Unconfirmed email addresses are cleared from the confirmation store within 48 hours. Confirmation emails and delivery logs are also processed by Resend under its privacy policy.

We keep the latest consent record while managing your subscription and any request to stop emails. To request access to or deletion of your information, contact ryan@ashtales.com. An unsubscribe record may be retained to prevent further unwanted emails.

Third-party services

Ash Tales may link to or embed third-party services, including podcast platforms, booksellers, social networks, and analytics or hosting providers. Those services have their own privacy policies and may collect data according to their own terms.

Cookies

Ash Tales may use standard cookies or similar technologies supplied by the hosting platform or analytics providers. These are used for normal site operation, traffic measurement, and performance.

Data retention

Operational logs and messages are kept only as long as reasonably needed for maintenance, security, audience analysis, or correspondence.
