What is a ferro rod?

A ferro rod, also known as a ferromagnetic rod or fire starter, is a simple yet effective tool used to start fires in the wilderness.

It's typically a metal rod made of ferrous material, such as iron or steel, with one end having a small gap or notch. When you strike the ferro rod against a suitable surface, such as a rock or piece of flint, it generates an electromagnetic spark that can ignite tinder and get a fire going.

The ferro rod is often used in conjunction with other fire starting methods, like tinder and kindling, to help create a sustainable flame.
