What is a bivy?

A bivy (short for 'bivouac sack') is a lightweight, compact shelter designed to provide protection from the elements in emergency or wilderness survival situations.

It's essentially a small, one-person tent that can be used as a last resort or as a primary shelter option when carrying a backpack or hiking long distances.

A bivy typically consists of a waterproof and breathable fabric, often nylon or polyester, with a zippered entrance and a hood to keep rain and wind out.

They are usually lightweight (around 1-2 pounds) and packable, making them an excellent choice for ultralight backpackers, adventurers, or survivalists who need a reliable shelter that won't weigh them down.
