About Ash Tales
Discover the story and ethos behind Ash Tales, the home of post apocalyptic fiction.
Behind the Scenes
Ash Tales is the irradiated love-child of myself, Ryan (that charming dude on the right), and the incredible world of apocalyptic, post apocalyptic and dystopian fiction.
I have a background in copywriting (I put myself through university by writing shitty articles on fitness supplements), I’m a co-founder and marketing dude by day, and an avid writer by night. I set up Ash Tales to share my love of all things apocalyptic, and to help aspiring writers (myself included) get a leg-up in the dog-eat-dog world of professional writing.

Ash Tales’ Ethos
Traditional journals are dying out – and I couldn’t be happier.
The old guard of publishing is making way for a new generation of empowered, independent authors. Self-publishing, podcasting, social media, and sites like Medium and Wattpad, have given the power back to the content creator.
I believe publishing should be a meritocracy, and that authors should have complete mastery over their work, so I created Ash Tales to be an independent corner of the publishing world, governed by two simple principles:
- If it’s good, it gets published.
- If you made it, you keep it.
Gone are the days of submitting your work to a dozen journals, and praying to see so much as a rejection letter – now, you can take control of your destiny.
And Ash Tales is here to help.
Want to get your short story featured on Ash Tales? We’re open to submissions! Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a fresh-faced amateur, you could have your story featured on the Ash Tales website (just ask John Xavier and Andrew Fernandez). Your story could even end up as a dedicated episode of the Ash Tales podcast.
